Hey folks,

I just built a multi effect box - mimosa jr. -> kuzco jr. -> lil' yellow od.

Everything works great, except the lil' yellow od is waaaaay too toppy. I have the full size model, and it's my go to, which is why I decided to miniaturize, but man, it's bad.

I went through the circuit and everything seems to be built correctly. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks!

It's probably worth posting a set of photos on the off chance that a set of eyes here picks up something that yours overlooked. Please make them LARGE, well-lit, well focused shots of (if practical) both sides of the PCB and all of the switch and jack wiring.

Do you have a graphics editor that will resize them or reduce the color depth? If not, IrfanView will do the job nicely:

Ot if you're on a Mac, the basic Preview application can do it for you. (Ironically I had to size this one down to include it!)

I ran into the same problem, the tone is harsh and peaky not the smooth rich OD tone from the full sized Yellow Overdrive. I have checked and double check the components and even de-soldered the IC testing it in a full sized Yellow Overdrive to make sure it wasn't the problem. Has anyone else built a Lil Yellow Overdrive that sounds like the full sized version?

Looks like we didn't get back to you on this after you posted photos—sorry about that! We'll take a look and try to help.

These are the only two reports I can recall seeing on the forum of bad behavior from the LYOD. You can certainly follow along here and maybe you'll find something that helps, but if you'd like targeted support, please start a separate thread. With photos, of course! :)

There is a minor error in the PCB. R7 is going to the non-inverting input. It should be going to the inverting input. You can fix it by pulling the south end of R7 and tacking it to the south end eyelet of R9.
