Hi everyone,

Finished my first build of the silver pony 2 (great challenge!) and I’m having trouble with the 100k pot. It sounds like you turned the tone down all the way on the guitar and is lifeless in places, other spots the pedal functions normally. Then adjust the 100k pot and the sound goes lifeless again. I will post pictures when I can. I will get it out of the enclosure as well. Inspecting the solder joints the pots seem fine.

Does it sound like a dead pot? A short? Soldering issue?

Thanks in advance!

It's possible it's a bad pot. It's also possible it's a soldering problem or a misplaced component. Years of experience point to the soldering being the most likely cause, especially with a first time build. But we can't tell without some some good, clear photos.

For best results:

Show us both sides of the board and all your off-board wiring.
Take the photos in good light rather than using the flash, which can wash out the colors.
Make them between 600-1000 pixels wide.

If you need help attaching them, just let us know!

Are you talking about the B100k dual gang drive pot?

I pulled the board out and inspected the underside, looked like two joints on two pots were not that great. Reflowed them and viola! This thing works great! Quiet on the hum and loud on the rock!

Probably won't be my last DIY pedal....now what to choose for the next kit.

Glad you got it working, nice job fixing the error!

The SP2 will give you plenty of dirt, so I'd go for a modulation effect or a delay next. Happy building!
