I built the 3 versions so far, but only have the old and the silver pony 2 (SP2) at hand.
I did a comparison and noticed the following things:
- at full gain, at first I thought SP2 (germanium setting) was fuller sounding, the OLD was thinner (more treble, but also less bass). I think now it has to do with the fact that the OLD had more gain. When I turn back the gain, both sound pretty (if not completely) equal. Is is correct that the OLD has more gain?
- at full gain, I had to turn the volume of SV2 way down in comparison to the OLD
- at lowest gain, both sound identical
- when comparing boost with lowest gain on OLD: boost sound warmer, less sharp and 'brittle' then the OLD (or SP2) on lowest gain. Does anyone else experiences this? And if so, can the boost be identical to the lowest gain-sound on the OLD/SP2?
