Is there anything glaringly obvious here?
This is my first build and I have no idea what I've done wrong.
The LED comes on but no sound.
Thanks for any help!!!!!!!!!

Two things:

1) Does bypass work? If not, the first thing you should check is the wiring of the two I/O jacks. Make sure the ground wire goes to the sleeve connection on the beveled edge of the jack body and that the signal wire is to the tip and not the ring. Refer to the diagram on page 18 of the instructions.

2) Those photos are FAR too small to be useful to us in helping you to troubleshoot the problem. We need to be able to see detail. Ideally, we like to see photos like the ones in the link below. Not everybody can reach this level of quality, we know, but you'll need to get a lot closer than your first couple of photos are.

Hi, Thanks so much.
I'll get some new pics uploaded.
Bypass isn't working.
I'm thinking I put the IC in backwards.

That wouldn't keep bypass from working. Check your jack wiring first!

That said, the dot on the IC should be at the top, i.e. closest to the jacks.

Looks to me like the output jack is miswired. If I'm seeing it correctly, it appears that the sleeve is connected to OUT on the PCB, and ring is wired to the ground connection. The sleeve should connect to ground and the tip to the OUT. There should be no connection to the ring of the jack. Again, refer to the diagram of the jack on page 18 of the instructions to see which solder tab is which.

I'm a newer builder and no moderator, so please remove if I'm not allowed to post these. Looks like there is no IC installed and the output jack is wired wrong. You will definitely be able to get this pedal working, hang in there.

He had it in backwards originally, and just removed it for the second set of photos.

Agreed! Quite sure this is the main problem here.

I installed the IC and rewired the output. Now the bypass signal comes through but it's still dead when activated.
I'm wondering if anyone can spot what's still wrong and if I maybe damaged something removing the IC or something else (first time soldering). Maybe I should give up, buy a new kit, and just start from scratch? Thanks!

How high are you solder points on the top the board near the bottom side of the toggle switch, I know there is some tolerance but if they reach up high enough they might grab the metal side of the switch and cause a ground.

If you still need help with this, please give us voltage readings for the IC and the JFET. If you need help on how that's done, here's a link to a video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XRFtlUn4eBg&t=7s
