Hello everyone,

First time builder and first time poster! I recently built a green pony kit and like a few other posters on here my bypass works fine but I get no output when the pedal is engaged. Looking through the other posts, one possible problem I read had to do with the IC chips so I measured the DC voltage on each pin of each chip but then I realized I had no idea what the "correct" values were that I should be looking for. I wanted to check this first because honestly the possibility of just popping in a new IC chip seems a lot easier than taking everything apart and resoldering. Anyways, here are my measured values (chip 1 is nearest to the DC jack for reference and I measured the pins in a counterclockwise direction starting from the top left corner). Any input is appreciated, and if the values end up checking out I will be going through the other troubleshooting tips listed on this forum. Thanks in advance!

Chip 1
1: 5.8mv
2: 5.8mv
3: 5.3mv
4: -9.22v
5: .9mv
6: 1.7mv
7: 5.5mv
8: 9.54v

Chip 2
1: -2.9mv
2: 2.2mv
3: 1.9mv
4: -9.23v
5: .9mv
6: 1.6mv
7: 1.2mv
8: -9.53v

Chip 3
1: 9.54v
2: 4.7v
3: 1.0mv
4: -4.55v
5: -9.23v
6: 4.85v
7: 7.46v
8: 9.53v

Other than your reporting pin 8 on "Chip 2" as negative (I suspect this was a typo, so recheck that one), those DC voltage values look spot on.

Please post a set of photos of your build. They should be LARGE, well-focused, well-lit shots of BOTH sides of the PCB and all of the jack and switch wiring. You can post them to a publicly accessible photo hosting site and display or link them here, or post them directly here using the forum's file attachment function (found below the main posting text box). If you use the latter, know that there is a 1 Mb size limit for image files, so it may be necessary to reduce their dimensions or their color depth to get them below that size limit. Any of a number of image editing applications will allow you to do this. I often recommend IrfanView for this purpose, since it is free and very easy to use.

Hi duhvoodooman,

Thanks for your response! Here are the photos. I wasn't able to use irfanview so hopefully they are still adequate. Please let me know if anything is hard to see and I will try to take a better photo of it. I did double check that value on chip 2 and you were correct. Also, the forum seems to have capped me at 3 attachments so I was going to post again with two more photos of the back of the board but I am unable to post them so soon after the first post. As soon as I can I will post two photos of the back.

You've omitted C1 and C9. I'm guessing the JFET mod caused some confusion. You need to add both of those 104 caps. C9 is part of a low pass filter and you can get away without adding that cap. The pedal will just have a bit too much treble. But C1 is the input cap and the pedal will not function without it.

Thanks for the help everyone! The missing components were the key (I also missed a diode in there). You would think that have leftover components when I "finished" the pedal would have been a clue to me but I guess it's one way to learn a lesson. Anyways, pedal sounds great and I already started working on my next build. Thanks!
