So in my haste I soldered the ICs for my crown jewel directly to the PCB. I didn’t install the sockets first. Oops. Will this be a problem? Also, one of the header sockets for the boost module has a blocked socket. 1 of the 4 pins won’t go in… where can I get a replacement socket?

It shouldn't be a problem as long as you put them in the right place, in the right orientation, with clean solder joints, and without applying extremely excessive heat. The sockets are very handy in swapping out faulty parts or fixing placement errors, but they don't serve any electronic purpose in the circuit.

As for your boost module socket, is it another IC? If so, you could use one of the extras from the main PCB. If it's a transistor using a SIL socket, you can email sales@buildyourownclone.com and let them know you have a defective socket, and they'll send you a replacement.

Good luck, happy building, and let us know if we can be of further help!

Thanks so much Scott. Sounds like my ICs will be fine then. The boost module needs and SIL socket so I’ll reach out to the sales email address. Many thanks!
