Hi, first time builder. I got a Lil Gray OD as my pedal to learn on and practice my skills. Put it together, no sound but loud humming when switched on. Tried to take it apart and redo and resolder but to no avail. I have since spent some time on the message board and read some very useful stuff that I should have read before I started. So currently the pedal clicks on, LED lights up, but no sound.

My question is whether or not the circuit board is salvageable. It’s pretty thrashed and I even burned off one eyelet (the connection with the giant blob). Is this board too mangled to ever be worthwhile? Thanks any input and advice!

The BYOC boards are nearly always salvageable unless the abuse has been extreme, which yours doesn't appear to be. However, the work involved is pretty challenging for novice builders and requires the correct tools, including a "solder sucker", good quality desoldering braid, a multimeter and a good deal of patience. A signal tester is also a useful device. If you elect to try this yourself, we will be happy to provide guidance and answer your questions to the best of our abilities. OTOH, if you don't wish to attempt the repairs yourself, some of us here are known to do repair work on occasion (present company included--PM me if interested).

Thanks for the support! I want to get better at this and be able to make this on my own, so I’ll keep at it. I’m glad to know that all is not lost for this pedal. Investing in those supplies will be my first step.

I bought the recommended supplies and put them to use, resoldered it all and the LED lights up when clicked on, but no sound, just silence.

I just finished putting together a bass overdrive and same results. Lights up, silence. Clicked off, guitar signal. Any advice as to what I should do next? Thanks!

Those symptoms are usually caused by a soldering error or (less commonly) a component misplacement. Can you show us current photos of your Gray OD (both sides of the board) in this thread, and then start a separate thread with photos and a description of the problem for your bass OD?
