So, a preface…..

My first build, I’m a luthier, but no electronics wiz, trying to learn.

I out the yellow OD kit together, I’m a dead head, having an OD1 copy for Jerry tones was what got me.

Everything went to plan, solder joints all were simple and easy, I I stalled it in the enclosure, plugged it In, and had output!

Success? Not quite

The output of the pedal seems really low, to get any sort of signal boost from the pedal, both pots are full open, I also seem to get a sort of prevalent high pass filter when turning on the pedal, almost like 500hz and below is gone, so it sort of sounds thin. Granted I’m only testing on a litte boss katana mini in my shop, I can still hear these issues, I’ll attach photos if you all can possibly help!

You have three resistor placement errors which are very likely responsible for what you're describing. I have circled these in the photo markup below--you just have them switched around. Refer to the PCB silkscreen image in the instructions for the correct resistance values for these three resistors. Color codes are as follows:

1K: brown-black-black-BROWN-brown
10K: brown-black-black-RED-brown
100K: brown-black-black-ORANGE-brown

Remove them carefully so as to not damage the PCB eyelets & solder pads, and re-install them in the proper positions. Retest the pedal and let us know if that does the trick.

I damaged two of my resistors pulling them out, I used metal tipped flat faced “needle nose” pliers, what I would use in guitar land, it pulled some of the blue color of the resistor, so I had some lying around from my current vero board LPB1 project, but no 1k resistor in that kit, so I’ll need to order a few. I have some pedals with DALE resistors in them, and wanted to get some from mouser, is there any wattage rateing I need to keep in mind?

Very doubtful that you actually damaged the function of the resistors; sounds like just peeled a bit of the outside paint off. Test them with a multimeter--I'll bet you find that they test just fine.

I’ll definitely check them when I get back to it on Monday. That being said, for pedal
Builds in general, does the wattage rating of resistors matter much?

No, because the voltage is so low. BYOC uses 1/4W metal film caps for most of the full-size pedals and 1/8W (to save space) for the mini-pedals.
