Hello...been a long time...just finished the crown jewel. Took my time. Plugged into power supply and leds worked, even without a jack into input. Guitar plays thru with unit off but does not play when unit is activated. Neither side works. Please direct me to the correct forum so I can get direction on a fix...thank you

Those pics are really too small for us to see the level of detail that we need to effectively help you troubleshoot. Could you either post larger ones here or post them to a publicly accessible photo hosting site like Imgur or similar?

Thanks, those are much more useful.

To confirm: neither side of the pedal works when used individually (as opposed to both on at the same time)?

What module were you using to test the boost side?

Do you have access to a multimeter and know how to use one for checking continuity and DC voltage levels?

Yeah, let's see if the boost side works with a module installed, and then go from there. Or if you want to use a workaround, bend a component lead clipping into a "U" shape and install the two ends into the I and O sockets on the upper header. That just connects the boost input to the output and will pass unprocessed guitar signal when the boost is engaged.

Ok.....I feel like a total moron here..I didn't realize that I was suppose to run with the module installed. Installed module; left side sounded off and guitar came alive...10 seconds later, right side kicked in...like magic...cannot believe it!...I've been beating my brains for weeks on this thing. So sorry I put you thru this. It really works now! Thank you so much for hanging in there with me and helping me, especially asking me about that module. That's all it took. Thank you...Richard Stearman

One thing I did want to ask, though, that did seem a little odd. On all my other pedals, in order for them to operate I have to have a guitar jack inserted into the input...then the pedal is active...with this pedal, I can turn it on and off even without a guitar jack into the input side. Is that normal for this pedal? Thanks

Yes, that is normal behavior for the CJ. The reason that most pedals require a cable in the input jack is to provide an easy way to preserve battery life. The power circuit is wired so that it gets its needed ground connection from the ring tab of the input jack contacting the sleeve of the cable plug, which is grounded. So if you're powering with a battery, just pull the cable out of the input jack when you're done playing; no ground connection to complete the circuit = no drain on the battery. But since the CJ doesn't have a battery connection, there's no need for this feature.
