Pedal: Classic Overdrive.
LED lights up with switching
No sound when engaged. Passes good signal when bypassed.
Socket and chip installed backwards. Reversed the chip to correct direction and still no sound when engaged. When backwards I got double the voltage readings on pins 1,2,3,5,6,7, and the correct 9v at pin 8. Tested with a 9.6 volt wall wart. Did the wrong way installation of the cause the high voltage readings and chip destruction? Some other part of the circuit cause the loss of signal and or higher voltage?
Any advise would be appreciated.

It doesn't happen every time, but IC failures due to backwards installation are very common. Suggest that you contact sales@buildyourownclone.com to acquire a replacement.
