Build Your Own Clone Message Board

This is my second build, and I am bummed! My first build was awesome. I just finished the Classic Over drive and I did the mods 4 and 5.
When plugged in, the bypass works (guitar sounds clean with no noise) but when I stomp on it, the LED lights up but no sound comes out.
Was I supposed to install a jumper on 224*? That part was a bit confusing to me.
I've been reading a lot of posts and searching for anything to try. The only thing I think it could be is something in the footswitch wiring. That was the only part that was "questionable" to me in this build.
If you can see anything in my pic that looks sketchy, let me know and I'll address it.

Why do you have the R1/510K and R6/51K resistor positions jumpered? The R6 sets the minimum gain of the pedal when the Drive pot is set all the way down. Having it jumpered will just make the minimum gain equal to unity, i.e. no added gain from the op amp gain stage--and that's okay, if that's how you want the Drive control to operate. But the R1 resistor sets the input impedance for the pedal, and having that jumpered will cause big-time signal loss. You should have the 510K resistor or a higher value (1M, 2.2M, etc.) installed there.

R1 also biases Q1, so even if you weren't dumping all your signal to ground by jumping R1, Q1 still wouldn't pass signal. R6 isn't absolutely necessary (although, you should put something in there). However, R1 is absolutely necessary.

Actually, that resistor we're referring to is R3, not R1. But the bottom-line is the same: it's necessary, so install it.

I have the two jumpers there as per the mods I did: #4 and #5. I believe it called for them to be added in place of the resisters.
I can install the resister in R3 that was originally called for and try that.

Could you please specify exactly where in the instructions you got impression that jumpers were required in the R3 and R6 locations? Neither mod #4 (More Gain) or mod #5 (More Bass) mention either of these two resistors. They are involved on mods #2 (Increased Input Impedance/R3) and #3 (More Clean/R6), but both of those suggest other resistor values for those two positions, not that they should be jumpered.

Well, I replaced the 2 jumpers with the resisters you said, and it worked! I'm not sure where I read about the jumpers, but your advice worked.
Now it's time for paint.
