I wish this was on the board when I first started building. So damn useful.

Thanks so much. I have a question, though. Is a 25W solder iron too weak or am I just really bad at this whole soldering business? I have a hard time getting the solder to melt on the junctions.
Thanks in advance.
Ben

Sorry to inform you but it's your soldering. I've used a 25W iron for years and have never had a problem.

The tip of your soldering iron could be dirty too, invest in a solder sponge and some tip cleaner + tinner.

No reason to apologize. I just started soldering two days ago, so I didn't expect to be a pro. My soldering skills are something I can fix. Also, I suspected I needed a cleaner, but needed verification before I spent money.
Thanks for the tips.

Just make sure you heat the junction of the two things you're soldering before the actual solder even joins the party. So, the lead of a resistor for instance and the eyelet it's passing through should be toasty, and then touch the solder to it. And don't forget, you need less than a dab of solder. Way less.

You'll get it...don't worry!
