Try bumping C2 up to 1uf and C5 up to 20 to 30uf and see what that does.

Thanks, I'll give that a go and let you know how it turns out, in the meantime I've bought a buffered blend pedal to blend a bit of my clean signal in to boost low end and that's working nicely, but I'm interested to see how this cap mod works out.

While I'm on though, can anyone think of a reason why I shouldn't mount the pots (and only the pots) in a new build onto a plastic surface? Do the pot cases need to be grounded?? The rest of the enclosure is metal, but where I want to put the pots is plastic. I guess that I could stock copper tape over the plastic if it's an issue? I might just do that anyway..

I don't think that would be a problem but the copper tape couldn't hurt. You know, and ounce of prevention, right? ;)

So I finally upped C2 to 1uf and C5 to 22UF. Not the quantum jump in bassiness I was expecting, but definitely a tad warmer / woolier. I've put one of the little black diodes in place of the jumper and it seems a little less gained to my ears, and a tad less fizzy. Good cleanish boost with the drive knob all the way back. All in all, ok!
