This text appears on the very first page of the Bender instructions:
THIS PEDAL HAS A POSITIVE GROUND! YOU DO NOT
NEED TO USE A SPECIAL POWER SUPPLY WITH
REVERSE POLARITY. BUT YOU CANNOT USE THIS
PEDAL ON A DAISY CHAIN WITH OTHER
NEGATIVELY GROUNDED PEDALS.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but what exactly does it mean?

I originally thought this pedal needed to have the + and - reversed for the DC input. I wanted to wait for confirmation, but I figured I'd use one of the reversing adaptors for my Godlyke Powerall power supply daisy chain. After reading that text, I'm glad I waited.

Even with the reversed adaptor, I can't use this with my power supply?

Or, I can use it, but not if other pedals are also connected?

Are there other BYOC pedals that at "positive ground" as well?

The enclosure of this pedal will be 'positive' ... if it touches a pedal that is 'negative ground', you've got a short-circuit across your power supply.

... that's bad, btw

So I guess that means that you definitely can't let them touch.

I don't use batteries, but wouldn't there still be a problem if they touched with batteries too?

If they're mounted to a pedalboard (and prevented from touching each other, obviously), would the Bender work if it had its own individual power supply (i.e. One Spot or something like that)? Then again, wouldn't the actual guitar signal jacks be electricall connected and the enclosures would then be "touching" anyway?

You can not use this with a reversed adapter. It needs it's own power supply.

Ok wait a sec. I read on here a few months back (can't find the thread) that you can run this on the same power supply (i.e. BBE supa charger, voodoo labs thing or brick) as normal pedals, boss, ehx etc. But you can't run it on a daisy chain, like how you can run multiple boss pedals from the TU-2.

I have the supacharger and it has reverse polarity cables as well as regular polarity. If I plug a boss pedal to my SC with a regular polarity cable and the tonebender to a separate outlet on the SC with the reverse polarity cable will it cause problems? Keep in mind they are both connected to the same power source with different polarity cables.

If this won't work please explain what will.

Thanks for the help.

The rub here is making sure this pedal has its own, isolated power supply, not a special cable for reverse polarity. If you're using the SupaCharger, you should be just fine with the conventional cable that comes with it. Also, you are totally correct about NOT daisy chaining with this pedal. If you do, every pedal after it in the chain won't get any power :)

Hi, I'm bumping this thread because I'm about to build a ESV MKII and I want to be sure not burn my power adaptor :D

So, can I use a standard 9v adaptor (like the boss psa) to power the MKII without damaging anything?

Thanks :)

Any standard 9VDC power supply with a 2.1mm center pin negative will work. You just cannot use the power supply to power both negative and positive ground pedals at the same time. If you do, the power supply will go into protection mode and shut down.

Thanks a lot Stephen, you're always very kind :D

My problem is that I have only one 9V power supply for all of my pedals. It's like a normal daisy chain but the chains that reach every pedal are made with the positive wire only (in order to avoid ground loops, my friend built it for me and he said this).
Even with this system will I not able to power the ESV MKII together with other pedals?

Thanks & Cheers

I don't see how you can possibly have one power supply for multiple pedals and NOT have a ground loop. Each pedal is being powered by a single power supply so each pedal has to have a path to ground. And since there is more than one pedal there has to be a ground loop because that's what a ground loop is... multiple paths to ground.

I suggest running your fuzz pedal off a battery. The current draw of the circuit is very low so as long as you remember to unplug the input when not in use the battery should last a long time.

Well you got me, I'm not too skilled in this field :D

From my side I can tell that, with this system, I have absolutely no hums/background noises while with a "standard" daisy chain cord (from BOSS) everything is extremely noisy. My only worry is not to damage the adapter or (worst) the pedal by putting it into my "modified" daisy chain. Are there any risks?

Still, I'll try with the battery or with a dedicated power supply.

Thanks again Stephen,
Cheers
