Just got the old byoc fuzz face board off of the buy/sell area:

1. The old kit was PNP transistors, can I order the NPN transistors from the BYOC store and follow the instructions for the newer ESV fuzz or does the reversed polarity of the transistors throw a wrench into that idea?

2. It sounds like BYOC has some nice matched tranny pairs for sale. Does anybody else (small bear/pedalparts plus?) have any matched germanium pairs that are better? I want to make a real smooth germanium fuzz face.

Thanks!

You cannot replace PNP transistors in a positive ground circuit with NPN types.

Small Bear sells matched pairs and trios of transistors for fuzz circuits. I'm not aware of any others. PP+ sells single transistors but does not offer matching AFAIK.

Actually, I think I made the wrong assumption.
Is this board supposed to have NPN or PNP transistors, or does it just depend on how I wire it up?:

AFAIK the BYOC Fuzz Face clone has always used NPN type transistors (negative ground). It's the BYOC Bender clone that uses PNP types (positive ground).
