I am doing the classic fuzz build and am missing 104/.1uf film capacitor BUT I have an extra part that is not on the part list and am wondering if it can be used as a substitute - white rectangular capacitor labeled .1J100

Was this possibly included as a substitute part or should I order the missing capacitor?

(Apologies for the very basic question, first time build!)

Thanks!
DD

That sounds like a .1uF cap to me, but I'm not sure I've ever seen one with those exact markings before. A photo might help (or someone else may confirm it based on your description).

I assume if you had a multimeter, you would have tested it already. But on the off chance that you have one and didn't know it can measure capacitance… it can. In that case, let us know, and we can help you learn how to do it.

Google says it’s a NOS .1uf. It has mojo.

Added pictures for reference.

Edit: After further reading it does appear that they could be interchangeable. Can anyone confirm?

They are both .1uf
The J implies there is a variance of 5% on the white capacitor (I think)
