When bypassed I get sound, but when the pedal is engaged the light comes on but no sound comes through. I checked the resistors, and the 1m resistor reads 0 resistance. I'm going to confirm the reading by pulling the resistor and re-checking.

If my reading is correct, could that be enough to cause the issue I described?

Thanks!

Yeah, it would, because that would shunt your incoming signal directly to ground. However, bad resistors are almost unheard of--a much more likely scenario is that the side of the resistor toward the middle of the PCB is shorting to ground (it's already connected to ground on the other side). You can check this by removing the 1M resistor and then testing for continuity (i.e. ~0 resistance) between the inner eyelet of the resistor and ground (I'd use lug 2 of the footswitch) when the footswitch is in the engaged position. If that shows continuity, the most likely source of the short (assuming you can't see anything wrong visually with that eyelet on either side of the PCB) would be excess solder flowing to that eyelet from the underside of the PCB connection to lug 1 of the footswitch. If this is the case, when you switch to the bypassed position, the continuity to ground should be broken. Try this testing and report back with your findings.

So I found my issue, and I kinda feel stupid. BTW, you were right.. was not a resistor issue.

If I turn the trimpot all the way left, I get no effect. Turned to the right, I get effect but it sounds a little weak - little to no sustain. I'm going to tweak it a bit and see how things go..

Also, I posted this in the wrong subforum.. would it be possible to get it moved to the transistor based forum?

It would, and I did.
