Wanting to put in a brighter LED on the esv germanium fuzz. I assume I need to change the 4700 ohm resistor, but wanted to verify. LED calculator stating limiting resistor value of 390 ohms. Running the factory led with a 4k7 ohm resistor seems way overkill, can anyone verify this change?

You could probably get by with 1-2k ohm, but I rarely go lower than that for CLRs. You might consider switching to a brighter type of LED like a waterclear. Keep in mind, if using a battery, the more current running through the LED, the shorter your battery life.

If use use a clear LED with the 4k7, it will be super bright (IMO). I usually beef up the CLR to about 10k when using a clear LED because of this. If you are wanting to use a diffused, you can use any value lower than 4k7 to increase the brightness. A 2k2 will be a good starting point, a couple hundred ohms will be really bright as well though.
