I am putting together a Leeds Fuzz right now. The manual says that the germanium diodes included would be clear with a green stripe, and that the green stripe needs to go into the square solder pad. The diodes in my kit do not match this description. Mine are clear with a white stripe on one side and a grey stripe on the other. For the diodes in my kit, which stripe color needs to go into the square solder pad? Thanks!

Gray stripe end. It should also be slightly thicker than the other lead.

Hmm, wish I had noticed this thread before posting mine with the same question: viewtopic.php?f=51&t=55785

The advice in my thread was a bit different, saying that either end works, as long as the diodes are both oriented by the same colour. I oriented the white stripe with the PCB's stripe. I hope that will be OK.

It will be fine. Take a look at the schematic and you will see that the diodes are connected in parallel to each other. They're just installed reversed to each other. This means it will make absolutely no difference which way you insert them into the PCB as long as they are reversed to each other.
