I am building the Lil Beaver. In the instructions and the outlines for the caps on the PCB board, it wants me to use aluminum electrolytic caps, 1uF. But in my packet of components, I was not given those. I was given 4 film caps labeled 105K/63V.

I dunno if they are interchangeable? Are they supposed to be this, and not the aluminum? Seems like there are soldering holes for the aluminum ones, and the holes are polarized. So I am confused.

Thanks for any advice, help, or criticism!

The film caps can be used in place of the lytic caps but then the circuit wouldn’t be a true clone of the original. If you’d rather build to original spec you can contact BYOC and ask them to send you the lytics.

I've tried contacting them. Maybe they will write me back. I've asked them several times about getting the Analog Delay pedal back in stock, and I've never had a reply back.

I would like the lytics, I want it to be legit!

I’m thinking it’s my fave of the Lil Beavers the Ram’s Head.

Three versions of the Li'l Beaver use electros--the Ram's Head, the NYC and the Op Amp variants. The Triangle and Russian versions use only film and ceramic caps, presumably because the highest value caps in those two circuits is 100nf.

I must have looked at the wrong build doc when I thought I was looking at the NYC version. I thought it had mixed lytic values like the op-amp version (1x 1uf, 4.7uf, 10uf & 47uf). Turns out both the NYC & RH use 4x 1uf lytics.

I'm doing the NYC version

Is there an email address I can write to the company? I've used the "Contact" pop up messaging thing they have on the website, but again, I've made several attempts to contact them about other things through that, and I've never been issued a response.

The sales folks are great to deal with, they just aren’t around in the weekend.
