All,

Working on a summer project w/ my 11 year old and have an issue. I was active on the forum over a decade ago but haven't built anything in a ages.

Octave Fuzz -

https://ibb.co/3RLc74V
https://ibb.co/BPFF2FZ
https://ibb.co/M2DY9rK

Bypass works.

When 'on', no sound, no LED, knobs do nothing, switch does nothing.

Powered by one spot. I didn't use a battery option since I never use batteries. I use a Strymon Ojai and Pedal Power 2 on my actual board.

I compared the board w/ one I found on the forum and it looks ok. Solder joints seem ok as well, especially for an 11 year old first timer.

Any clues?

I don't see any obvious errors, so would recommend that you work through this process: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=52188

Your wire connections especially look like they need some attention.

Also, be sure that you didn't make this common mistake: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=52139

With no LED, I suspect something either a miswire on the 9V jack, or maybe one of the larger electrolytic capacitors could have something shorting the leads out. Double check that 9V jack first, if the 2 + wires are reversed, it won't power on.

DVM beat me to it.

Thank you all! I did a quick test to switch the wiring on the 9v and the led did come on. Interestingly, the pedal now makes an very loud hum that doesn’t change when you turn the knobs or switch. No guitar signal, just a very loud hum that doesn’t change.

I’m going to set it aside for a day and go back through it tomorrow. Any idea what might be causing no guitar signal but a loud hum?

Thanks guys!

That happens usually when there's no connection between the ground of your guitar and the ground of your amp because a bad or no connection at the sleeve(s) of the jack(s). Keep in mind that the out jack is chassis grounded, so you need to have both of the jacks mounted in the enclosure for it to work.

I have the same problem.
I didn't make the mistake of switching the 2 + wires, but I still don't understand it. No LED, no sound, neither with power supply nor with battery.

I did this little test, maybe it will point out my mistake?

=> I attached the + of a 9V battery to the + of the 9V AC adapter.
I attached the - of the battery to Position 2 of the 3PDT footswitch.
and then the LED WORKS FINE when I engage the footswitch.
However, when I attach the - of the battery to the - of the 9V adapter instead the LED doesn't work when engaged.

I have the feeling I'm making a silly mistake, but I can't seem to grasp it.

Please start a new thread. We try to avoid "piggybacking" similar problems, since the same symptoms can often be caused by different things. I would suggest that you also post photos of the build, showing the DC and I/O jack wiring.
