Hey everybody,

First time poster and builder here, I’m a total newbie at this and thought I might be able to handle this one...

The pedal passes the signal just fine in bypass mode but when switched on, it only makes white noise, no guitar signal. The volume, gain, and tone controls seem to affect the noise. The switch to bypass the tone circuit also makes a loud popping sound when flipped either way. The LED comes on when engaged. I’m using a one spot power adapter for this. Pics attached, hopefully they suffice. Happy to take more if needed. Thanks so much!

I don't see anything misplaced. My suggestion would be to try working through this process first: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=52188

Hey everyone, reviving this thread after I finally returned to this project. I reflowed all the joints today and still having the same problem.... the pots DO affect the white noise which happens when the pedal is engaged. Tru bypass works fine. LED works fine. Still getting the popping sound when switching the EQ on/off switch. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you!!!

Two ideas:

1) Please don't be offended by this, but we see this mistake quite often: Are you certain that you have your guitar (or earlier pedals in your signal chain) plugged into the input jack and your amp (or later pedals in the chain) plugged into the output jack? Many of us just habitually plug the guitar into the jack on the right side and the amp into the one on the left. But if you have the pedal sitting upside down with the back off and the components facing up at you, that's backwards.

2) Assuming that's not this problem, at this point I would suggest using a signal tester to trace out the main signal path in the circuit and determine where the signal is dropping out.

Ok, update! Checked to make sure my input and output were correct, check. Ordered signal tester and assembled it today. Instead of plugging my guitar into one end I decided to hook up my phone with a signal generator app and send thru a 1/8 -> 1/4 TRS adapter to send thru the pedal. Much to my surprise, the pedal worked with this setup. All knobs working correctly with the tone generator thru the TRS cable. Tried my guitar and got the white noise again... any thoughts here?

You should use a multimeter to check for continuity through the footswitch for the input and output signal path when the switch is in the engaged position. There should be continuity between lugs 4 & 5 and between lugs 7 & 8.

yep, there is an interruption in your signal path somewhere between the guitar and the first gain stage. If it works with a TRS cable in the input, is it possible you've simply got the lugs of the input jack wired wrong? i.e. you've swapped the tip and ring connections? Otherwise, as DVM suggested, start at the 3PDT switch and trace the signal path until you lose it - that'll indicate where something is goofed.
