Hello!

I recently picked up the BYOC Classic Fuzz and prior to assembling the pedal I wanted to breadboard it so I could develop a greater understanding of schematics and breadboarding in general, as I'm new to all this. I omitted the switch from the breadboard, but everything else is accounted for. I'm getting signal through the circuit, but the toggle switch, Fuzz pot, & Bias pot do not appear to work. The Level pot does work, but when the volume goes below a certain threshold it starts to hum and never fully silences the signal.

I've gone over the layout multiple times, input to output, and output to input. I'm obviously not translating the schematic to the breadboard correctly. I imagine it's quite difficult to troubleshoot a breadboard over the internet, so I understand if these pictures don't allow for that. However, I'm hoping you all can provide some troubleshooting techniques with a voltmeter. Maybe there is some glaring issue with how I've laid it out?!

Thank you for your help and suggestions!

Breadboard just the fuzz face first.

Which portion(s) of the schematic would that be?

Use the basic schematic for the original silicon fuzz face. Get the base circuit working first. Then add the mods from the BYOC Classic Fuzz.

Moved this thread to the "Transistor-based...." subforum where it belongs.

So, I've breadboarded the fuzz face schematic you posted, but I had to use the components included in the classic fuzz kit, so I used the 100k volume pot in place of the 500k, and a 4.7k in place of the 8k2 resistor, and the 22uf in place of the 20uf capacitor. I'm getting a signal, but it's very quiet, and the fuzz pot does not appear to do anything. I'm wondering in what way the parts I had to swap out are contributing to these issues.

A 4k7 in place of the 8k2 isn't ideal, but it will still produce sound. Almost all the other component values only need to be in the ballpark to work. So I don't think that's your problem. I'd be looking more closely at your breadboarding.
