Hi.

This is fourth build from BYOC and I followed the directions and took my time.

I am confused because the swede will come on for a second with the level set all the way up with a loud squeal, then fade away...

I noticed in the instructions on the "out" it is not grounded... just one connection to tip!?!?!

Never seen a pedal without a ground there... can someone tell me why this is missing and if this is why the pedal does not work? Otherwise I can only guess it would be one of my ICs are bad... everything else is all set.

Thanks!

The output jack grounds through the metal enclosure to the input jack, which IS grounded. I have numerous BYOC pedals wired this same way, no problem.

We need to see photos to help you with your problem. They need to be LARGE, well-lit, well-focused shots of both sides of the PCB and all of the switch and jack wiring.

It is not letting me add pictures... this forum is quite different than most.

am I missing something?

Yes, there's a 1 MB limit on attachment file size. Suggest that you reduce either the dimensions of the photos or their color depth. Any of a number of graphics editors or viewers will easily do this. I like IrfanView for that purpose, and it's free: https://www.irfanview.com/

I just realized I missed the part in the directions where it says to put in a jumper instead of 330 resistor! I have a feeling that won't be enough to fix the problem but maybe!

If it doesn't fix it, please post voltages of your ICs.

it did not fix it...

Can you tell me which legs to probe to get voltages?

I do not know much about ICs

Thanks!

Please get voltage reading on all legs of all ICs. Connect your black lead to ground somewhere, like one of the jacks. Then list your DC voltages for pins 1 through 8 for each of the ICs. Pin 1 would be indicated by a line or chamfer on the chip. You would be expecting to see voltages between 0 and 10 volts for each pin, set your meter accordingly.

So I got the same voltages on all three ICs.

9v on pin 8. and roughly half of 9 volts on the rest.

I did also get voltage across all of the transistors.

You should be getting 0V on pin 4 of each IC, because that is the ground connection.

Sorry I thought that was implied!
Zero volts there being ground... correct.
Thank you though

I feel bad sending Emails to this company.. they seem to not like to answer them but I am kinda stumped as to what to do here... I am hoping someone here will hit it for me.

So still scratching my head I saw this left in the review for the pedal:

R16 (68K) must be connected to +V, not 1/2!

any idea what that means? There are two 68k resistors...

I don't know if the comment is correct or not, but it refers to the schematic, not the actual pedal. This is NOT a factor in your problem.

When nothing else seems to be helping, working through this process often clears up mysterious failures: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=52188

Your soldering quality looks good overall, but it only takes one bad joint in a critical spot to screw the pooch. A careful inspection using magnification is an important part of this process, since wisps of wire or stray bits of solder can cause contact between adjacent solder joints, and the Swede has a lot of components in close proximity.

I do have a pretty decent microscope. I will try this.

If I cant find anything then its pretty much a who knows situation right?

The company will has not responded to Emails in regards to it yet... I really do not want to re built the entire pedal again since I do not think they sell PCBs for it... not trying to de solder all those parts!
