Hello-

finished up a build on a bass overdrive pedal. Normal output in bypass. LED lights when activated. Just very little to no output. When blend set fully CCW, no output. All the way CW, very low output and tons of white noise. Tone pots seem to be functioning as the tone of the white noise shifts when turned.

I've checked all solder joints and reflowed any that seemed even remotely suspect, but honestly, it looks pretty clean. Don't see any solder bridges. Leads are trimmed.
Not sure what next. Are there voltages I can check to troubleshoot?

thanks
Carlos

Apologies for missing this when you first posted.

I would agree that your build looks very clean, and I am less inclined to think it's a soldering problem—even though that is the most likely cause of your symptoms. If it were my build, I would still go through and reflow every joint just to be sure, though. Even with hundreds of pedals under my belt, I still find that I have cold joints sometimes, even when they don't look cold.

I don't see any component misplacements, although I have been known to miss resistor color bands before. I can't tell what your cap values are, but triple check those, especially all the smaller ones that are roughly the same size.

Sounds like you have a multimeter and know how to use it to measure voltage. I would start with the ICs. Mind the pinout when reporting them here. Draw a picture if you're not sure.

Well here are the voltages for the IC's.

Just a quick update. IT WORKS!!

I touched up a couple of solder points that looked a little "iffy"- mainly lug 5 on the footswitch, and footswtich pad 8 on the PCB. One of those, or both seemed to do the trick.

Thanks
Carlos

That's great to hear! I don't have one of these to test voltages on, so I was about to call in some help from other moderators. It's amazing how often the solder touch-up does the trick. Enjoy your pedal!

Woohoo! Nice job; that’s a badass dirt pedal for bass.

Thanks! I've built a bunch of BYOC pedals already. Dig em all! And yes, this Bass Overdrive sounds awesome as well. From just a little hair on the tone, to all out bass mayhem! Very flexible.
