Build Your Own Clone Message Board

Hello BYOC support. My pedal is assembled but will not make sound. It works when bypassed and led is functional. Photos are attached. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thank you for the help!

My first assumption is your soldering is the problem. You solder joints do not look good.

In your second photo - the pic of the underside of the PCB - look at the solder joint just to the right of the LED. Do you see how conical and smooth and shiny that joint is? That's a perfect solder joint. Most of your other joints look like dull, brittle, blobs. This is most likely due to you not cleaning your soldering iron tip between joints.

You should reflow all of your solder work. Simply apply a tiny amount of fresh solder to each and make sure your tip is clean each time.

Success! It’s alive! I removed and resoldered everything. I definitely noticed a difference in the look of the solder connections (dull to shiny). My confidence has grown and I’ll definitely be purchasing more diy pedals in the future. What an interesting sound too. The boosted highs nearly took my head off! I really like the boosted signal and the unique overdrive/fuzz tone.

Great news! It's amazing how often that reflow process solves pedal build problems. Enjoy the new pedal! b
