Do you mean tightening the snap-on receptacles that hold the battery in the adapter?

Maybe the nut on DC jack? If so find some kind of lock washer that fits.

Yeah, I think you're right that the OP is referring to the DC jack.

What I do is hold the outside of the DC jack in place with one finger and tighten up the nut on the inside (it just needs to be snug) with a small needle-nosed pliers. An eighth to a quarter turn past finger tight is enough.

Yep for the "innies" I do that. I began buying "outties" awhile back due to me pulling the guts to fix a gremlin. They seem to be more snug but that is probably because of the epoxy I pour over the pedal. It grips it better. The ugly outties grow on you after awhile and doesn't bother me like it does many people. I had a handful of lock washers that fit the DC jack and have zero idea where or when I got those.
