Hi I'm new to pedal building and don't really have any idea what I'm doing so please bear with me.

I built it up and it works in bypass mode and the LED works but when i switch it on the guitar noise cuts out. I can hear a little bit of fuzz and the sound changes when i flip the switch or turn either of the knobs but it is very quiet. I have used it with both a battery and 9v with the same results.

The place most likely to be the culprit is the switch. As i was soldering it some of the connectors got really hot and melted the switch and can wiggle a little bit. #3 is the worst.
But like I said I'm new to this that may not be it at all.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Having good soldering skills is a MUST. If you don't have quality solder joints you cannot expect to have a working pedal when you're done. Get some spare parts and some type of circuit board material and practice, practice, practice.

It's possible that you've trashed the stomp switch. Use a multi-meter and test the continuity between the poles and all the throw lugs to confirm the switch is still good. If any of the lugs are loose it's a good bet that the switch is toast.
