I built it to Ram's Head specs and it sounds great, but I think I might want to jumper some of the resistors (the Creamy Dreamer mod?). Is it possible to implement a switch so that I can go from standard Ram's Head specs to Creamy Dreamer? Thanks in advance! :)

Yes, it's definitely possible!

On this thread you can see that's it's only jumping 3 resistors. Put it on a 3pdt switch, even a regular stomp 3pdt if you so please.

However, on this thread of mods, people say it doesn't make a bit of difference:

I haven't done it to my beaver, but I suggest socketing the values and testing it out before you commit to making a switch and doing all of that work for something that doesn't even sound good. The guys in the thread above tried the creamy dreamer on the triangle version so the Ram's Head version might be different, but i still suggest socketing just in case...

good luck!

I was involved with that second thread, and the above advice seems sound to me. I'd try jumpering those three resistors temporarily (just tack-solder a lead clipping or short piece of wire across each resistor leg) and see if (1) you hear a noticeable difference and (2) like the sound. If yes to both, then you can go ahead with the switching scheme you described.

With the Triangle version I built, it's really not much of a difference--a little more sustain is about it. But the Ram's Head version uses different resistor values and may react differently.

Thanks to both of you!

I will try it out (temporarily) and hopefully I'll like it. Dumb question: if I put the switch on from the diagram, where do I connect the ground wire to?

If the mod isn't satisfactory, is there another way I can increase the gain for a more Pumpkins-like sound?

:)

The only dumb question is the one not asked. As I recall, I used the sleeve tab on the output jack as my ground connection for the Dreamer switch.

You could try a higher gain transistor, like the 2N5089.
