I just got an original Rams head era big muff, with NPN FS36999 transistors.

Thing works great, except the tone control does nothing. The pot measures out just fine, so it's somehting else in the circuit. Any ideas? I've been troubleshooting with no luck.

Thanks.

If the pot's fine then you should check the ground connection with C10 and R18

Redid all the solder points between the tone pot and ground, seems to be working now, but not doing a whole lot. The tone knob ranges between a fairly bright sound but harsh (all the way left) and a more tame sound (all the way right). About it.

Perhaps I'm just use to the Russian models, my first time playing with a regular big muff.

It does sound great, big change from my current production russian big muff.
