I'm not anxious to fork over the cash for a Radial Head Bone, and I thought maybe the BYOC Amp Selector would fit the bill.

I have several heads and one main cab. I want to be able to switch out the heads on the fly. Is the Amp Selector set up for that?

Thanks.

I think you would blow the unit..., there's IC and what not in there.., not hardwired.

Pretty sure you need to present a load to all heads at all times, or risk blowing your OT's.

I just scored a weber Zmatcher , it has an extra line out so you could run two cabs with one head I believe. They aren't crazy expensive.

Only thing is you need to make something for the inputs

I wonder how the switching is done on the Weber, mechanical or relay?
You'll definitely hurt a tube amp if there's no load, so I imagine the switching would need to be very quick and reliable and probably relay based.
Paul "in the lab" Stevenson has a dummy load line out box on his site. It's not much more than a couple of 25w wire resistors.
I recon you could probably rig up something pretty simply using that.
You'd definitely want to use some higher current handling wire than in a typical stomp box build too.

An easier way out might be a 2 x 12 cab with the speakers wired separately.

You need to have a splitter to send signal to both the amps you're using, then switch the speaker to activate the head you want. Of course, the head not being used needs a load on it. Weber's head selector was built for exactly this. You can buy one and reverse it. Or just figure that none of the weber stuff is at all complicated, and just rig up an A/B switch with one side going to the cab & the other going to something like an 8r 100 watt resistor.

Thanks for the input, guys!

I know the Radial unit uses relay switching. But I'll check out the Weber and see what I can find out. I will report back my findings, of course. :D

I see the Weber uses a power adapter. It must use a relay too; no other reason it would need juice.

I think I'm going to end up going with the Weber model with no footswitch for $100. I really want this primarily for testing, so the footswitch is not something I care about. And if I chance my mind, I can convert to footswitch for way less than the $50 Weber charges.
