Apologies for such a "noobish" question...
Attached is a screen capture from the build instructions for the amp switcher. I have added the codes of the capacitors that I have soldered in so far.

There are two caps left to install, which go in the slots circled in turquoise. The problem is that the labeling on the board says "1n0" for both of the empty slots, but the 2 caps I have left are labeled differently: "102" and "104"...

Is this yet another case of a noob not reading cap values correctly, or something else?
Seems like if they are labeled as being the same value on the board, then the caps should have the same code number....

the one labeled 104 is a 1n cap. the other one (102) isn't. better double check to make sure you didn't mix a few up. if you got the wrong part, just shoot BYOC an email and they'll hook you up :)

I appreciate the speedy reply. I am sorry to be so dense here, but now I am even more confused, because for film capacitors, the parts list reads:
“1 - 1n0 or .001u film (102)
4 - 100n or .1u film (104) ”

So when reading the above, I take it to mean the 102 cap is a 1n capacitor....
Since you say the 104 is actually the 1n, that's pretty confusing to me.

The other area of confusion for me is that the parts list doesn't seem to jive with the cap labels on the board.
The above shows a total of 5 film caps, but there are SIX slots:
3 slots labeled "100n"
2 slots labeled "1n0"
1 slot has no label, but the written instructions say to install a 100n there.
That's a total of 6 slots, but only 5 film capacitors on the parts list....

I thought I had somewhat of a grasp on this (for a noob), but I must admit I am totally lost here....

There appears to have been an update for this kit that I wasn't aware of. C101 & C102 (see Rev 1.1 schematic in build instructions) are .1uf (104) input coupling caps that come just before resistors R1 & R9 (1M) respectively.

Capacitor C6 & C7 are .1uf bypass caps across the power rail filter caps C4 & C5 respectively. C7 is the cap that you have marked as being 102. It should be marked 104.

Capacitors C1 & C2 (.001uf or 1n0 or 102) are in series with resistors R6 & R14 respectively which are connected across the secondary windings of the output transformers.

Stephen, thank you very much for the explanation of both the discrepancy and also what I needed to to do to recitfy the situation. I really do appreciate it.
I even got lucky, in that C7 wasn't underneath a jack, making it a lot easier to remove the capacitor and set things right.

No problem, though I was questioning my reading comprehension skills...lol
Hey, I just appreciate anyone trying to help!

Its actually given me an idea for people like me that are not up to speed on reading capacitor codes and/or resistor codes: A "flash card" program that shows you a capacitor, you enter the value you think it is, and then if you are wrong, it gives you that correct answer. I am guessing it would be best to write it in HTML, so it could run easily on a website or something, but I'll have to give it some thought....

I found your chart AFTER you had settled the issue at hand.
The other thread is new to me...

If I wrote a capacitor identification trainer program, I would definitely use your chart as the go-by.
