Hey guys - after several years of loyal duty on my main gigging board, during a rushed setup in the dark I accidentally plugged the output of the Super8 into a speaker jack on a 20w tube amp and powered everything up. I soon realized the issue and powered down, fixed the routing, and somewhat to my surprise everything still worked after I powered back up (it still changes presets fine, and sounds fine once a preset is selected - so I suspect the microcontroller and relays are all fine) - BUT, now there is a loud pop when I switch presets. For reference, I was not/am not using the buffered input.

Given the circuit (i.e., what's immediately before the output jack) and the symptom, I'm thinking maybe I fried the photocoupler? Let me know if you think this is likely the issue and/or whether you have any ideas how to better troubleshoot this particular issue.

Thanks!

Are you only getting popping in preset mode? Or are you getting popping in loop mode? Any individual loops pop more than others? Does it pop when you go into AND out of bypass?

We've been talking about this and it is likely that the photo coupler has been damaged. Contact BYOC directly to purchase a replacement.

It will likely be extremely difficult to re-seat all of the LEDs into the enclosure after removing the pcb. You might consider buying replacement LEDs as well, in case you need to remove them all and start fresh.

Popping is in loop or preset mode. All loops seem to pop about equally in loop mode, though in preset mode there is sometimes a difference depending on what preset I'm coming from/going to (though there is always a pop of some sort).

thanks - I'm thinking that it would be easier to try to swap the optocoupler from the top side of the PCB. Not ideal, but I've done it before in a pinch.
