Hello there, almost done with the super 8 build but ran into a problem. I go to plug it in to test the channels and the switching before I actually mount it to the case and the bank/bypass lights come on, but light number 7 always stays on. I cant switch it on and off and when I plug it in/out I can actually hear the relay for that channel click on and off. I did notice on my revision of the board that the solder points labeled 6 and 8 have their resistor placements close to that and my solder keeps jumping over or seems pretty close to it. Maybe this might be the cause but I have no idea what else it be. Any ideas?

Thank you!

Sounds like you probably have a short that is connecting the trace that turns the loop 7 LED and relay on and off to +5v so that it is constantly on. Get a magnifying glass and look closely to see if there is any solder somewhere it shouldn't be. Most likely, its near the square solder pad of relay 8. There is a 470ohm resistor that is very close to a transistor. A short between those eyelets would cause what you are describing.

I checked around and I didn't see any solder jumped at the points near the transistors. Below are pics of what I'm talking about with the 10k/6 and 8 points for the footswitch being close together. Also included pics of the area of the relays you mentioned just in case.

That spot is supposed to be connected, so if solder is touching there, it doesn't matter.

What happens if you pull out the MCU and plug the power in?

I pulled both chips out and also left one out and and the other in for both. The same channel is still always on. The only thing that’s different is the bypass and the bank lights don’t come on when the chips are out.

Sorry for my slow reply.

Keep the MCU removed from its socket for the time being. Desolder and remove Q7. Is the loop 7 LED still on? Is the loop 7 relay still in send/return state or has it switched over to bypass mode.

One other thing. Are you certain you have a 2N3904 transistor in the Q7 spot and not a BS170 MOSFET?
