Hi All,

I've had my Super8 in the package for what must be 4 years now, and i'm just now getting around to building it. I wasn't able to locate the rev 1.0 build instructions but have already ran into at least two changes from the 1.2 instructions: an additional film capacitor (0.01uf), a photo coupler instead of a diode, the addition of 2x BS170 transistors, and potentially a few others I haven't encountered quite yet.

Are these changes critical to the functionality of pedal and something I should account for at this early stage - even if I need to get a few spare parts - or are those changes in layout/materials more the product cost/efficiency?

Thank you for your help!

IIRC, the difference is simply in the muting system for the relay switching. They essentially do the same thing, just different ways of doing it. I believe we changed it because the BS170's are easier to source than the photocouplers.

In any event, you can find the instruction file for the rev1 here: http://byocelectronics.com/super8instructionsrev1.pdf

Yes, that's correct. The only difference is that we switched from the photoMOS muting system to the discrete MOS muting system. They both work equally well, but it's much easier to source discrete MOSFETs.

Awesome, I thought that was the case but didn't want to jump ahead of myself.

And thanks for the instructions link. Didn't see the super8 listed on the long list of early versions in the other subforum.

Thank you both!

You are very welcome. It wasn't on the server for some reason. A quick conversion and upload was in order, so because of you, the Rev1 instructions are now available, so thanks to you as well. Let us know if you run into any other questions or have any issues.
