We're sending out beta kits today. So we'll need to wait on those results. We're also waiting on a shipment of the dual gang pots to arrive from Alpha before we can do the major release. Those should be here in another week or two. In the meantime, we'll be doing some promotional stuff. We'll be giving away a beta kit on our Facebook page today. It will have the very limited "saphire encrusted" paintjob, as will all the beta kits. So check in on Facebook. You might be able to grab one for free before they're officially released.

Luckily, the pain has not been mine (my current PITA is more of the 1's and 0's type), but these paint jobs take A LOT of time and love. It is by far the most involved process that we have for any of the enclosures. They look fan-freaking-tastic though, so those who get them will be getting their hands on something special, that's for sure.

Those metal flake paint jobs are a lot of work. This batch was harder than it needed to be due to lack of experience. Next batch will be much easier. Still a lot lot lot more difficult than just a plain coat of paint though.

The video didn't upload correctly. I'm trying again. So no give away till tomorrow.

Just got the email the other day about this pedal and checked out the youtube video.

BYOC must be reading my mind because a few months ago I started a new project designing my own dirt pedal. Have not had much time to work on it, but have tested the distortion part a little on a breadboard. I am going to use some existing boards people may have heard of to accomplish different segments of the build (and if you read further you might be able to figure out where I will get them).

I had planned on an devising an OD using 4 pairs of selectible clipping diodes with the option to add another one of 4 choices of an additional clipping diode to have various combinations of symmetrical and asymmetrical clipping. A Treble/Mid/Bass tone circuit is to be added to the mix with the mid control having an adjustable filter/wah type setting. There is also to going to be a clean signal option to add into the distortion ala EVH with his live rig, which could be boosted and blended with the dirty signal.

Looks like BYOC may have pretty much beaten me to the punch on this, although the Jewel is a little bid different.

Having built the Crown Jewel beta kit, let me say that it is everything that its name would suggest. Without a doubt, the most flexible boost/overdrive/distortion pedal I've ever used, and I've used a LOT of them. Clipping choices galore (both 'soft' & 'hard'), 9 & 18V operational modes, super-responsive T-M-B controls, an amp-like Presence control, and your choice of 6 different plug-in boost modules (from squeaky clean to down & dirty) that can be run before or after the overdrive/distortion circuit. And maybe my favorite feature--the ability to adjust the frequency mid-point and band width (a.k.a. "Q") of the mids control. Just a very, very cool & useful pedal! And the sparkly paint job is BITCHIN'!!

I'm quite please with the way the Crown Jewel turned out.

Nice! That's a pretty good pic, but it still doesn't do it justice. I've yet to be able to get a pic that really shows off the sparkle. It's like trying to take a pic of a sunset with your phone camera.

And the 3-Dness! The way the graphics seem to float over the surface because of the clear coat is really cool.

It actually is kinda 3D. There's probably a 16th of an inch of clear coat on there.

Whoa. Are these going to be a regular production item? I don't see them on the site. I'm poor right now but I'm going to have to get one of these. edit- the kit is what I'm asking about.

How is the bass response? Is this appropriate for use with bass guitar?
