In the documentary movie "I'll Be Me", they openly discussed and showed his struggle with Alzheimer's.
It was so strange...In one scene he wasn't able to tell what town he was in, where he had just been or much of anything else, but then he picked up a guitar and made this great blistering run on it. It was kind of shocking that even with that disease he not only remembered the run, he still had the chops to play it...
