So far I have the Triangle, Rams Head and Green Russian Large Beaver clones.

They’re all good in their own way. If I had to pick only one, I’d probably go with the Green Russian because it doesn’t get a fizzy sound when I turn up the Sustain knob all the way. (Using an 18 watt Marshall clone with a G&L S 500 single coil guitar)

But they’re all winners in their own ways. It’s like tasting different types of dark chocolate bars. They all taste like chocolate but they have their little differences. That’s what comparing Big Muffs are like to me.

My favorite is one that you don't have--the NYC. Love it's rich, smooth saturation.

I built the triangle but my friend has an original lambs head that I prefer but I haven’t built a clone yet. Muffs are like tubesceamers: a zillion different ways to sound similar :P

Me too. I mean...the differences are all very very subtle. You can only hear anything different if you A/B them closely. But the NYC is has the most sustain and compression of all the versions, which is what I want in a muff.

I just built the NYC and it does have this extra creamy quality to it. The NYC is the winner.
