Stephen,
Don't overlook the middle of the line Takemine's. I played'em for years, till I got my Martin. The Tak's feel fantastic, look great, and sound nice.

My bro has one, that I'm currently borrowing. I broke the original plastic nut and just got it back from the shop with a Tusq nut and saddle. Wow. It sounds brighter to me than when it went to the shop 2 months ago, I'm guessing due to the strings it has now rather than the nut/saddle. The resonance improved noticably though. Really nice guitar. Anyway I can't remember exactly what model it is (I'm at work now) but it was in the $500 range IIRC. I'll post which model it is when I get home.

My brother's is the G-330S. Straight acoustic. He bought it quite a few years ago now (8 maybe?), but it's gotta be the same or similar to what they still make. I just played it. I love it more the more it's in my hands. I can't imagine what a multi-thousand $$ Martin must be like. Butter, I would imagine...
