I need to get some new tubes. I currently have had JJ E34Ls on my Marshall, but they seem to just cause problems......

I am looking into getting some Svetlana EL34. Can anyone tell me if you know what they mean by Hard/Blue, Soft/Red/ and Medium/Green for these tubes on MF?

I believe that the 'hardness' rating of an output tube is an indicator of how easily the power tube can be driven into output distortion. Output tubes with a 'softer' rating will be much easier to overdrive, whereas output tubes with a 'harder' rating will be much harder to distort. It could be seen as 'headroom' type rating. It's not something that you would probably notice unless you play your amp loud enough to overdrive the output tubes.

I like the E34L's better that the SED's or =C='s.
