So, I was using the search looking for an old thread on something else and run up on my Forum Build thread and then I thought about the pedal and looked at the avatars. Seems like just about everyone on there is gone from here now but for a few. There were some good threads with those folks 99.99% of which was a good time.

For the noobs here, I guess this was a group effort on a Univibe that I took a stab at. I want to say it was a few years before I joined in 2011. I dusted it off and played with it last night...no...the pedal you twisted minds

Nice! I recognize some of those avatars instantly - man, this group was really active back then, shipping stuff around back and forth, group buys and builds, t-shirt runs, trading mojo supplies .... This makes me want to put a PIF package together!

No doubt. This place was cooking with things going on. I guess the 'newness' of everything and then life comes along and things change etc... I do wonder from time to time what people got into. I'm sure the sky is the limit.

Totally! I do miss all the activity from those days.

I've thought of starting that up again more than once recently. Pretty sure I was the final recipient last time!

I remember it well.

I still lurk here every day, BTW.

I just tend to post more on Instagram and YouTube these days.

Yeah. It absolutely gutted me to have to swap out some parts, but it's singing now.

I wonder how many of these have moved on to Madbean's forum mostly. Lots of people there that I recognize from here. When you're no longer building BYOC kits but mostly stuff you've sourced yourself Madbean's is a more logical place to hang then BYOC.

But I reckon for the most part people just move on. Get different hobbies, kids, jobs, lives. Priorities change. The biggest miracle is not in how many people transition from a place but how many still stay.

Months old thread I know but as someone who has just returned after a few years it is kinda sad to see how inactive this place has become! I too remember the pifs and the traveling box of parts and all the back and forth that went on with the builds and creative process. Has the bubble popped on the diy pedal community? Or has rveryone just found a new place to hang now or something? We should try and figure out a way to breathe some new life into here maybe. Or perhaps I am just feeling a bit nostalgic myself.

When you build DIY stuff a place like Madbean seems like a more logical place to hang then the forum of a place that sells full pedal kits. I reckon Madbean is like Wacken Open Air, a great festival, but one that also sucks in crowds that now no longer go to other festivals.
