A friend of mine got some Fralin P90s installed in one of his humbucker guitars, and uh… I want some P90s for my 335 style guitar. I don't want to pay Fralin prices, though! Is anyone in the DIY/side hustle scene doing good ones?

Take a look at Bootstrap pickups. They are hand wound and sound great. I have their P90s in my Tele.

If your 335 is routed for humbuckers, you could always try guitar fetish's Dream 90 humbucker-sized P90 clone. I installed their Dream 180 (same, but humbucking) in a baritone once, and thought they were really decent for the money. Nothing boutique about 'em, but they're a heckuva deal. There are at least 3 versions (dream90, mean90, surf90, etc) wound differently for higher/lower response. They also make a line of mini-humbuckers that fit P90 routings, also in multiple windings so you can pick your gain.

Also, Scooter was winding pups for a while, I bought a tele neck from him, and it's hot to match my Texas Special tele bridge and sounds awesome. A nice upgrade from the USA Fender pup that was in there. Reasonably priced doe a hand-wound pup, as I recall. Scooter does fine work.

+1 for Scooter's pups. 8)
I have a Tele bridge and two pairs of custom wound humbuckers that I absolutely adore.
