 Post subject: Reverb buying tip

Here's a trick that has worked for me more than once. Many Reverb sellers these days are brick and mortar shops all over the country that have listed their inventory on Reverb to find a broader customer base. These sellers all have a point of sale system set up in their stores already, or at the very least are used to using PayPal.

Reverb charges sellers a 5% transaction fee. So you know that they are willing to take 95% of their listed price. So what I do is find the shop's website and then call or email them asking if they'll discount the item by 5% if you buy it direct from them. They often say yes. It's important not to use Reverb messaging for this. I think they'd get in trouble if they set up an outside deal in that way.

And as a bonus, in most cases they are too small to have been forced to collect out of state sales tax. Reverb does have to do this. So if you live out of state, you might save even more. Yesterday I saved almost 50 bucks on an already pretty inexpensive guitar this way! (NGD post coming soon…)
