Can somebody school me on different kinds of rotary potentiometer tapers? I learned today that the pot I bought here for a wah pedal has an "ICAR taper". I googled ICAR to see what it is, but the search didn't return anything that was helpful.

What are the different kinds of tapers?
How do you decide what kind of taper to use?
Which pedals use which kind of taper?

Re: ICAR, my understanding is that it's the name of the Italian company that made wah pots with s special taper--very little change at the two ends of the sweep, rapid change in the middle 50% or so.
