This has been my second build - the previous one was a delay pedal.

Apparently I forgot everything about soldering, checking circuits, etc because this one was a bear. I had to go back several times to double-check everything (Wrong value capacitor in the wrong place? yes! Transistor in the wrong way? yes! Too many bad solder joints to count, etc.). To the point I thought I might have screwed up a component, the 3PDT switch or the circuit board itself.

But at the same time, a lot of lessons learned:
1) Check everything at each step of the way to make sure the part is in the right place with a good solder joint
2) Read #1
3) Use your multi-meter to check if your wiring works
4) Be ready with the solder sucker if needed
5) Test the circuit once complete, before you wrap things up or install knobs
6) Patience on the decal
7) Don't use white paint unless you're in a clean room

At any rate, like a proud father, I'm putting these photos out there for validation. And as with the last pedal build I completed, I'm ready for the next one!

I just bought one of these pedals and I can't wait to build it . I really like the sound of this distortion pedal one of the best things about it is it has a rotary knob I love it. I've painted many guitars in the past and white and black has always been the hardest even if you have a clean paint booth. You didn't say if you got it working did you get it working? I just finished my first build the confidence booster the mouse will be my second I think I'll get started on it this weekend. The hardest thing for me is keeping track of the resistors ratings. Don't be too hard on yourself overall it looks pretty darn good.

Here's an idea on that subject: viewtopic.php?p=131949#p131949

This is a great idea seems like the only way to really keep track of the resistors. Thanks

Thanks - yes, everything is working now, but had to recheck things several times. A couple things I figured out even after re-soldering and checking connections was with cross connections:
-My input jack was rotated so that it was touching the motherboard at a solder joint (oops)
-When I screwed in my pots to the enclosure, one if the wire's insulation was stripped a bit too high and was touching one of the solder connections for the IC chip (I finally put some electrical tape over the IC chip area to keep that from happening)

Overall it sounds really good and I'm glad I got it working!
