This is the Uber Tuber from Madbean's collection. I wanted to build it because of the tube and the design he put together is fantastic. I love the way it sounds and can't wait to experiment more with it. I had some issues initially with the tube, but we got it sorted it out.

I have some pre-boxed shots and the completed version.

Looks great! Are those holes to vent the heat from the tube?

Yep they are supposed to vent the heat and Brian added in two LEDs that glow through the holes.

Finally got a chance to look at this on a browser that wasn't IE (so I could see the huge pictures without too much hassle)—nice, clean build. Looking forward to building one myself at some point in the future.

Well done!

Looks like you painted the box. Did you do anything to prep for the paint? Or use special paint? Thanks.

I'm not the builder here, but I've done it a lot. There are a million options. I have had good luck wet sanding the enclosure and then using Rust-Oleum primer and paint in a rattle can, with clear enamel top coat.

BUT

With few exceptions, I find it is not worth my time anymore. You can purchase powder coated enclosures whose quality far exceeds what you can get with rattle cans, and for only a few dollars per enclosure.

Sorry for the delay in responding, but as Scott said I bought the enclosure pre-painted as it just costs a little bit more and just looks good already.

I didn't prep the finish before I applied the waterslide.

What did you use for the waterslide? I tried a hack I saw on Youtube using laser printer and packing tape but it didn't work. I know you can get waterslide decal paper for laser printers, but it's pricing and I've seen mixed reviews.

I actually got my waterslide paper from Small Bear. And yes, it is pricey but it is the best I have used thus far.

Since I only have an inkjet, I usually let it dry for at least a few hours after printing, then spray a few coats of Mod Podge on it. And then let it dry overnight.

It is tricky to use and I am still working on getting the hang of using it.

I imagine that using a laser printer is the best option but I just don't have one at home.

Yep. Small Bear is the most reliable source for water slide decal paper that I have found. Their laser printer paper works great if you have one. (The inkjet paper also seems really good, but I have less experience with it.)
