Well, here it is. My first fully sourced build :D
It was very fun! I have all of the internal trims set to noon so I still have some tweaking to do but it sounds great as-is!

Parts were sourced from PedalPCB, Tayda, Mouser, AmplifiedParts, Aion and LoveMySwitches.

The only issue I encountered during the build was; while I was mounting the first row of cap's (on the left) I mounted all of the smaller caps first, which is my usual process. However, once I went back to mount the larger 1u cap, it would not fit...lol. So I just bent the leads and neatly "draped" it upwards.
On the second row of cap's, I mounted the 1u cap first. Then all of the smaller cap's fit right into place.
Sooo...mental note: When mounting box cap's on a tight board, start with the big ones first and work outward 8)

I have no clue what I want to do for artwork on the enclosure at the moment. So once an idea strikes me, I will be sure to post the end product 8)

Special thanks to Geekmacdaddy for the inspiration and tips!

Howdy Voodoo.

Those are SMD 201's mounted on adapters.
Smd's were recommended to me by Geekmacdaddy.
So on my first go-around with smd's, I didnt want to botch anything so I got these ones.

However, I also purchased separate smd 201's and some of these bare adapter boards so I can practice mounting them myself.

Hey, they looks fantastic, nice! I’ll tell you a little secret. I switched to Tayda’s mlcc 1uf caps. Those big film caps are just frustrating.

Nice! Those thru-hole adapters are a clever idea!

Well done. You can't beat the simplicity of a BYOC kit, but sourcing your own parts is lots of fun too, and the options become endless. You're in deep now!

Thanks again, guys!

YES, INDEED, BYOC IS THE BEST! Top notch all the way around! And this has become my favorite hang out as of late 8)
But yeah, I'm in deep for sure!

I had really been wanting to do a complete build from scratch for quite some time now, and GMD's own Deofol build just gave me that nudge I needed. Of course, I did not make the PCB, nor did I cast the enclosure so I guess "from scratch" is an over statement. But I did drill the enclosure myself, if that counts?

It was certainly interesting to find out what a challenge "sourcing" can be. I found rather strange to have to traipse between more than just a few vendors to get everything I needed. But all in all, I had fun doing it. And MUCH to my surprise, I received my parts from Thailand (Tayda) quicker than parts from Iowa...go figure.
In the past, I had been hesitant to order ufrom Tayda just because of the distance and potential delays and such with customs. However, they were the only ones with a few things I needed, so I had to take a chance...and I'm glad I did. I won't hesitate to use them in the future.
