My try on the silver pony 2. I like the gold look of the klon so I made it golden ;-)

Looks great! Nice to see a gold one. How's the inside look? :?:

Looking at the inside I have a question. On the solder side I double checked all the solder joints and they are all perfectly flown (don't know if this is the word). But on this side I see some joints which look like a bubble. Never noticed this before I took the picture. Is this normal?

I do occasionally get a little bubble on the component side. Not quite as large or spherical as a few of yours seem to be. They also don't look very shiny, but maybe that's just the image. Are you using lead-free solder by any chance?

Since your pedal is working fine, you don't need to do anything with this right now unless you are a professional musician who can't risk the pedal failing. Probably wouldn't hurt to reheat the joints in question from the top side, though.

Personally, I wouldn't touch them. These domes on the component side are just the result of using a little more solder than was needed. Since you're soldering from the other side of the PCB, gravity just pulls the molten solder down through the eyelet, which is a desirable visual indicator of good solder flow. But if you add a bit more solder than necessary, you can get those "bubbles." Doesn't hurt anything, though. You just want to be sure to avoid them on the solder side of the PCB, where they can often indicate a "cold" solder joint with poor connectivity.

Thanx for the answers. I don't know if i use lead-free solder. It is a big roll of solder I have for years. Would you say solder with lead is better?

If it isn't marked as lead-free, than I'm sure it's the standard leaded stuff. It is much easier to use than the lead-free variety, which is much more finicky. We strongly recommend using leaded solder for DIY pedal work. The amounts used are very small, so the environmental impact is negligible.
