Build Your Own Clone Message Board

Hey folks, I hope this is allowed here and my apologies if it is frowned upon to post non BYOC pedal builds here.
I usually build kits from this site with my Son and we've had a lot of fun doing it ! This pedal was different as it was a collaboration with a co-worker. It's the first pedal he ever built !!! It took some time and a few different tests to arrive at the finished product, but oh so worth it !!! We started with a cheap Chinese Demonfx King of Drive pedal to gut and steal the enclosure, switches, jacks etc.... While he was doing the 'old school' electronics, I worked on the enclosure which involved stripping the paint and laminating a piece of aluminum flashing on the top to cover the holes we didn't use and to tidy up the appearance....

The Chrome knob side is a modified Skreddy P19, eliminating one transistor..... That feeds into the orange knob side which is a clone of a Colorsound Powerbooster. The slick part of this pedal is he was able to split the input voltage so the P19 side runs on 9V but the Colorsound runs on 18V. Pretty slick !!!.....

Pedal sounds even better than it looks !!!

If it's not already obvious, we were going for that ' Gilmour in a box ' tone...... and it was a smashing success !!

I'll have to try the Large Beaver (Ram's Head) into the Color Booster (at 18V) to see how close I can get to that Gilmour tone. Thanks for sharing the project and the audio

Thanks for all the positive comments ! This thing is a gas to play through.... It's funny, I originally had the idea of using the P19 side for the fuzz, and the Colorsound for the e.q.and a ' shaper' of the tone.... however, the C.S. sounds killer when that gain is pegged and you pull back on the P19.... it also sounds great when both gains are at 50% and it's one fuzz feeding the other !!!.... This is one of those very rare pedals that works in so many different ways... there really is no ' right' way yo use it, and I'm yet to find a ' bad' tone here.....
