First time soldering. Should have started with a fuzz but … next time

It looked great until I started working with the PCB in the enclosure. I’m not good in tight spaces yet. Hope the estate of HR Geiger isn’t upset.

Still need to tweak the trim pots but it works! Now I need to learn Born on the Bayou.

Looks great, especially for a first effort! Hope you don't mind that I modified your image URL's with IMG tags to display them directly in the forum rather than having to click on the links.

One area to work on for the future would be to neaten up your wiring. This isn't just an aesthetic thing--long wires can pick up unwanted noise, particularly in modulation effects. The way I like to do that is to mount all the hardware (jacks, pots and switches) just finger-tight in the enclosure, sit the populated PCB down into position on the pot legs (just takes a little bending and finagling of the legs to align with the PCB holes) and then measure and cut the individual lengths of wire that you'll need. Leave an extra ~1/4" on each end to strip, twist, tin and solder. My personal preference is to then solder all the wires to the PCB, solder the PCB to the pot legs and any board-mounted toggle switches, and then make the wire connections to the footswitch and jack lugs. Don't forget to connect the battery adapter if you want to use one, and be sure to slide the LED into its mounting holes before you solder the PCB in place. Just bend the last 1/4" of the LED leads over ~45 degrees so the LED can't slip back out and you can use those leads to position the LED into its hole in the PCB and solder it in place. Those LED leads are generally the last two solder connections I make in the build.

Looking forward to seeing your next build!

Incidentally, in case you haven't looked them over yet, here are some very useful informational posts to check out:

There are a bunch more of them posted as "stickies" in the DIY Discussion sub-forum.

Thanks for the tips! First build so slavishly following the instructions re:wire length. Will correct in future builds.

Will be doing some reading I guess, keep my mind off the wait for my enclosures to cure/dry.

Cheers!

(Will work on images going forward)

Just have to say that I haven’t stopped playing with this pedal since I built it. It also has me playing a lot slower to really enjoy the effect. This thing is amazing. Thanks BYOC!
